BEA 2012 Recap

DSCN0245 300x225 BEA 2012 RecapI’m back from BEA and you know what that means, right? It’s time for my first BEA recap! I had such an amazing time and got to meet so many authors, publicists and bloggers that I interact with online. If you ever get a chance to go, you will have the time of your life!

I arrived with my mom on the Friday night before BEA so we would have time to do some sight-seeing in New York City. This was my first time going and I was blown away! The city is so busy and crazy. One of my favorite things to do was eat pizza and get cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery. Seriously, if you ever go to NYC, try those cupcakes! You will fall in love. And the best part about Magnolia Bakery is that it is right next to Simon & Schuster. I had no idea about this until I was just walking by and the name was right there! Crazy! Everything is in NYC.DSCN0267 300x225 BEA 2012 Recap

Besides walking all over NYC, I also got to see the Statue of Liberty and visit Ellis Island to see my grandma’s name on a plaque. It was so amazing to walk the very grounds that my grandma walked years before me when she got to America. Even if you don’t have family that has immigrated through Ellis Island, I highly recommend visiting there if you ever go to NYC.

DSCN0289 300x225 BEA 2012 RecapSunday night I was invited to a S&S teen party! This was definitely one of the highlights of my trip. I got to meet some really great debut authors and authors whose books I already love, like Jenny Han. She was so hilarious! I am so glad that I finally got to meet her. In addition, I got to chat with some awesome folks at S&S. They are the nicest and are very passionate about bloggers. Thank you for the great party!!

DSCN0288 300x225 BEA 2012 RecapMonday was the day of the Book Blogger Conference and I wasn’t at all sure of what to expect. Sadly, I have to say that I was disappointed overall with what the conference had to offer and I wish that I had opted out of this part. Maybe it will get better in the years to come, but BEA needs to fix a lot of things about it and actually aim it at bloggers.

Melissa 223x300 BEA 2012 RecapOn Tuesday, BEA officially opened. I got up super early to get in line and even though we got there over an hour before, there was already a huge line. When it was finally time to go in, madness ensued. There wasn’t a moment that I wasn’t in line or walking around the floor that day. I was exhausted by that night! I did get to meet tons of bloggers and authors that day who were so sweet and fun to talk to.

Wednesday was my last day and thankfully it was a bit calmer than Tuesday. I got to spend some time with Jenny from Supernatural Snark and Melissa from I Swim For Oceans. They are seriously the funnest people ever and I LOVED talking to them. Love you girls! I also got to meet some great HarperTeen authors, like Veronica Roth! When the day finally ended, I was really happy and so glad that I got to interact with everyone.  Jennifer 223x300 BEA 2012 Recap

BEA was a fantastic experience and I am so thankful to my mom for taking me. It was a one-of-a-kind graduation present. It was great to finally meet the bloggers, authors, and publicists that I’ve been talking to over the years. I hope everyone who went had as much of an awesome time as I did.

  1. Aww, it sounds like you had a fantastic time! I wish I’d gotten that awesome graduation present, so awesome. :D So glad you had a great time!

  2. Yay, happy graduation! :) Also, I didn’t realize this when it happened (but I do now after seeing all your pictures in this post) I totally asked you where you got your boxes at the post office on Wednesday. haha, I didn’t see them hanging from the ceiling in different sizes. :) Hope all your boxes got to you safely! I got mine Friday, love media mail!!

  3. You look so cute in that S&S picture, Bailey! I’m so glad you had fun, and I’m jealous at the same time ;)
I hope we’ll get to see each other again one day!

  4. I ADORE YOU BAILEY!!! You are seriously too cute for words. I agree with you on the Blogger Conference, it was my first year attending as well and I was a bit disappointed. Meeting everyone was great, but the content I found didn’t really apply as much as I’d hoped it would. Oh well. Maybe next year will be better:)

I had a blast meeting you and your awesome mom, I hope we can meet up again before BEA next year!

  5. Bailey, you are absolutely, utterly adorable, and I’m so glad that you, Jenny and I got to spend a wee bit of time together! I certainly hope we can all do it again soon!

I’m totally with you on the Book Bloggers Conference by the way. I found it incredibly disappointing, and I doubt I’ll ever pay that ridiculous fee for something like that again haha

    xoxo stay well!

  6. That’s an awesome graduation present! BEA looks like so much fun! I hope I can go next year.

  7. I agree with you about the Bloggers Conference, I was disappointed too. But I’m glad I got to meet you and your mom. I’m glad the rest of your trip was fun!

  8. Bailey, it was so great to meet you in line at BEA! Hope your mother got her Deb Harkness book in the mail. :)

Ditto to your Magnolia love….I think I ate like 5 Magnolia cupcakes on my trip. And it wasn’t nearly enough.

Also, I totes agree with you about BBC. Meh.

  9. Bailey!!!! You are too adorable. I had a blast meeting you! Tell your mom I said hi!
