Love Has No Finale Tour Recap
*Note: I will probably say nice, sweet, kind, awesome, and amazing a lot in this post because all of the authors (and model) are all of those descriptions!!*
When I first heard about about the tour, you can imagine my reaction. Becca Fitzpatrick, Kresley Cole, Tonya Hurley, Elizabeth Miles, AND Heather Brewer AND Drew Doyon, who is the Patch cover model, would all be at Changing Hands at the same time!!! How amazing is that?! On top of that awesomeness, Simon & Schuster wanted me to live tweet the event AND let me conduct a video interview with these 5 ladies. Yeah, I couldn’t wait for the day to come and when it finally did, my glee was contagious!
When my mom and I first got to Changing Hands, we were just a tad early (more like two hours…) so we decided to grab a bite to eat and wait it out. As the tables, chairs, and displays were getting set up, I felt so giddy! It was only just recently that I decided to pursue a career in publishing, so getting to be involved in these things just seems that much more special.
When the authors finally arrived, I’m pretty sure the whole audience was freaking out. Maybe it was because Drew Doyon showed up in all his gorgeous glory, but I’m pretty sure it had a little something to do with the fantastic authors, too. And then it was time for me to perform my duty to my fellow readers to interview the talented ladies (and hunky model). While I was waiting behind the scenes for them to get all prepared and up to date on what was to happen at the signing that night, all the girls were just so adorable! They obviously adore meeting their fans and new readers so their giggles of excitement were so sweet.
Then to the interview it was! As I was walking in they were just so nice and kind to me. And their answers to my questions were the best!!! Don’t worry, the video of it all will be posted below.
Before I went back out to sit down, I also got to meet Tonya Hurley’s super sweet twin sister Tracy. This girl is just as talented and great as her sister. I definitely had a lot of fun with her during the signing. If you ever get a chance to go to any of Tonya’s events, make sure to say hi to Tracy!
The room was packed by the time the interview concluded and all the authors made their entrance on stage. The audience immediately got down to asking their creative questions to the authors.
Here’s a little taste of their answers:
Becca Fitzpatrick’s own life has inspired a lot in her books. Fans of the series I’m sure remember the memorable scene when Scott asks Nora to the dance with a hot dog and the line, “Don’t be a wiener, go to the dance with me!” Well, it turns out that this actually happened in Becca’s life! She asked a guy to spring fling with a hot dog and that same line! She’s too funny.
Kresley Cole says that she develops a crush on all her heroes by the time she finishes writing their own respective books. If she doesn’t have a crush on them by the end, she knows she has to go back and rewrite something until she starts crushing on them.
Tonya Hurley says that her editor is really awesome about letting her go where she needs to go with a book. She trusts Tonya!
Elizabeth Miles says that editing and revising is actually her favorite part of the whole writing process!
Heather Brewer says that she has signed a baby.
Drew Doyon was chosen to be Patch by Becca because according to Becca, “He has Patch hair!”
Some of the funnier lines from the night:
“I want to sign Stephen King!”-Elizabeth Miles
“I actually applied to the CIA twice but they never called.”-Becca. In response to that, Tonya shouts, “Wieners!” (Gotta love her!)
After the eventful Q&A, the signing began! I decided to wait til the end to get my books signed because it was total craziness in the store, so I kind of flitted around and chatted to all the authors, Tracy, and Anna (the awesomesauce S&S publicist). I had some really great conversations with everyone and got to know each of them better. It was really a treat to be able to talk to them all one-on-one.
Tracy and Anna were so great about answering my questions about being a publicist. I feel so much better about my path now and extremely excited to pursue it.
After much chatting, the signing lines started to die down and I was able to get pictures and my books signed by the authors. This was truly one of the best nights of my life and I am so blessed to have been able to go. I can’t wait to see all these ladies and Drew at other events in the future. They are the best!!
