Mara Dyer once believed she could run from her past.
She used to think her problems were all in her head.
She couldn’t imagine that after everything she’s been through, the boy she loves would still be keeping secrets.
In this gripping sequel to The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, the truth evolves and choices prove deadly. What will become of Mara Dyer next?
*Warning: This isn’t the typical review you’d see on IB Book Blogging. But then again, Mara Dyer isn’t a typical book series…*
My initial reaction upon finishing THE EVOLUTION OF MARA DYER: HOLY. CRAP. That happened??? They really are? Wait, what?! Noooo!! Yessssss!!! Oh, it’s over now? But it can’t be! Please, have mercy on my soul! It needs the next book sooo bad. Don’t let me suffer!!
Yeah, that’s pretty much everything I was thinking, perhaps shouting…These Mara Dyer novels have a tendency to make me such a mess! In a good way, of course. This book is 500+ pages of thrill, chills, and reactions that I can’t contain! I seriously have no idea how Michelle Hodkin does it. There is so much mystery going on behind the words that readers see. I couldn’t guess the ending even if I tried. And believe me, I did. I don’t think its possible for readers to just sit back and let the story unfold. Hodkin engages her readers in a story that is out of this world good.
I didn’t think it was possible for EVOLUTION to be just as great as UNBECOMING, but it was. The stakes are raised even higher than before, if you can believe that. I couldn’t put this book down at all for my fear for Mara’s life. She becomes so real when I’m reading from her perspective that it’s impossible to stop thinking about her.
And then there’s Noah…what isn’t there to say about this man? He is the embodiment of every girl/teen/woman fantasy. Hodkin dives a bit deeper into Noah’s mind in this one and I finally understand a bit about his motivation. I don’t think anyone can ever truly understand everything about Noah, though. He’s as complex as anyone can get. In a good way of course.
Even though THE EVOLUTION OF MARA DYER is longer than your average novel, I still feel like I haven’t gotten enough. I need every little piece of information about every little aspect of every little character. There’s so many questions spinning in my mind that I need answers to! Please October 2013, come faster!
