tick, tick, tick, tick, tick it’s almost time for war.

Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.

She’s finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.

Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.

In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam’s life.

My Review:

It’s going to be really hard not to fangirl about UNRAVEL ME, so I’m just going to go ahead and get it over with for you. OMIGOSH UNRAVEL ME IS SO FANTABULOUSLY AWESOME AND AMAZING ALL WRAPPED UP IN A PRETTY BOW. Seriously, the sequels this year are bringing it! Tahereh brings unexpected twists and shocking revelations to a whole new level. I can’t count the number of times I was gasping out loud! On top of that, the romance is even spicier and juicier than before. Juliette in one lucky girl in that department!  I just want to hug and smother this book with so much love, it’s that good. You better run to the store when UNRAVEL ME releases! This book is a hot commodity.

Juliette is frightened more than ever before about her powers in UNRAVEL ME. The discoveries she makes about them in this one are disturbing yet exciting at the same time. Juliette’s thoughts are twisted and still as self-loathing as ever, yet I could definitely see a turning point in her attitude. I hurt for Juliette for so much of UNRAVEL ME, especially surrounding her experiences involving Adam and her deadly powers. However, there were some very fine moments for Juliette despite the overwhelming amount of horrible ones (this girl has some really bad luck). Oh, and did I mention that there are quite a few Warner and Juliette scenes that will have readers blushing straight to their toes? Boy does Juliette have a tough decision ahead of her involving her romantic relationships.

Warner is most definitely not just a villain. He is probably the most complex character I have ever had the pleasure of reading about in a book. Sometimes I want to hate him with a passion just like Juliette, and others I felt myself melting when he showed a different side to himself. Yes, Warner is still a bad, bad boy. He has some serious daddy issues that have messed him up to an unimaginable state. That being said, there is still hope for him. Well, maybe…

Adam….I’m not sure how I feel about him after UNRAVEL ME. I still want to love him like Juliette does, but it’s SO hard with Warner in the picture. He was a bit of a Debbie Downer! On top of that, the chemistry between him and Juliette seems to have fizzled out, especially when you compare it to Juliette and Warner’s. Yes, there are still some hot and heavy moments between the two, but I think I have converted fully to Team Warner, so maybe that’s why I’m not as into them. But I do think Mafi has a lot more in store for Adam and Juliette, so don’t discount these two together.

The action in UNRAVEL ME rivals that of SHATTER ME. With the addition of new characters and secrets, UNRAVEL ME is just as good as, if not better than, SHATTER ME. This also may be due to the fact that there’s a whole lot of the lovable Kenji. To go with that, there are many shocking plot twists that Mafi has crafted to raise reader’s anxiety levels! And her writing style! Holy wow is it beautiful and gorgeous and mesmerizing. It has a hypnotic quality to it that will ensnare readers in the story even after the book has come to a close. I will read anything this woman writes!

If you have read and adored SHATTER ME, I have no doubt that UNRAVEL ME will earn your love.

  1. I’m super-excited to see more of Warren. Of course, I hated him in the first book (weren’t we supposed to) but I can’t wait to see how he grows in complexity! Plus, loved the first story. *rubs hands together in anticipation*

  2. Another team switcher!! OMG I can’t see myself liking Warner, but so many people have changed their minds about him. I can’t wait to read this!!

  3. Bailey, this is a great review! Thanks for sharing it with us!

  4. You know how I feel about this. You know how I feel about Warner and Adam and my fears and … GAH.

But I trust your opinion, Bailey. If you love it this much, then there is no way I can be let down. I’m sure you’ll be the first to know my opinions once I read it. :D

  5. I love your review! We have many of the same thoughts. I definitely wasn’t a fan of Adam after reading this book. He lacks depth, I think. I absolutely loved Juliette in this story. I think she’s grown a bit from when we first met her, and I loved seeing the change in her as she was adjusting while learning how to properly use her power. Great review! :)

  6. Great Review! But honestly reading all these reviews for Unravel Me is killing me! I keep hearing so many good things about this book including chapter 62 (AND I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IN CHAPTER 62 THATS GOT EVERYONE TALKING!) LOL

  7. A total Team Warner convert? EEP! I am sososososososo scared to read this one because I love Adam so much. I’m sure I will get on board with the Warner love too, but I feel like I’d be cheating on Adam or something. lol It’s coming up on my reading list very soon so we shall see! Great review!
