Override 300x173 Author Interview: Heather Anastasiu (Glitch and Override)

Today Heather Anastasiu is stopping by to answer some questions about Override, the next book in her Glitch trilogy. I really enjoyed reading Glitch, so I can’t wait to read more about Zoe and Adrien’s adventures. Hope fans of the series and soon-to-be-fans like the interview. Be sure to enter the giveaway below, too!

1. What do you think is the most unique thing about your Glitch series?

I think the most unique thing about my series is all the wicked twists and turns. There are obviously lots of dystopias out there and lots of love stories and superhero stories. But I think my natural strengths as a writer is in my storytelling and plotting—I have plenty of weaknesses too, but we won’t go into those icon wink Author Interview: Heather Anastasiu (Glitch and Override) My favorite books are those that have intelligently woven plot threads throughout that all come to an explosive reveal at the ending (like in each Harry Potter book), so I always had that in mind when I was coming up for the idea for each book. This also seems to be the one thing readers and reviewers key in on. I like being able to surprise even the most keen reader.

2. What is your favorite aspect of Zoe’s personality?

Her strength. Over the series, Zoe’s character moves from being a naïve character, unsure and afraid of the things going on around her, to being a pretty bad-ass leader. Writing that character transformation was probably one of my favorite parts of writing the series, and also the most difficult. Override is a really pivotal point in this journey. At the beginning of Override, Zoe thinks that leadership and strength is something she’ll just wake up and feel one day, but by the end she starts learning that it’s more about how you react when the crap starts to hit the fan. Do you cower and hide, or do what needs to be done no matter the risks?

3. What do you think you would do if you lived in Zoe’s world and started “glitching”?

Lol, I probably would have spazzed out and gotten caught by the Regulators before the Rez could rescue me. And if I had a glitcher gift, it’d probably be like the gift of extreme organization or something, or photographic memory—basically something that would make me AWESOME at administrative duties nice and safe tucked away at the Foundation icon wink Author Interview: Heather Anastasiu (Glitch and Override)

4. Name three of the most exciting things about Override, the sequel to Glitch.

Adrien and Zoe’s love story!

The action – there’s lots of explosive stuff happening all throughout the book, and yes I mean that literally.

The twists. If you thought Glitch had twists and turns, you ain’t seen nothing yet icon wink Author Interview: Heather Anastasiu (Glitch and Override)

5. The covers of the books in the Glitch series are stunning! Which would you say is your favorite and why?

I know! I feel sooooooooo lucky to have gotten such amazing cover designs. I love the first one, but I gotta say, the cover for Shutdown is so beautiful it gives Glitch’s cover a run for its money. I can’t decide which of the two I like best!

6. And the last, most important question: The zombie apocalypse is coming and you have to choose one character from your books to help you survive it. Who would you choose and why?

Awesome question! I’d have to say Zoe, because of her awesome powers she could crush all the zombie’s brains as they were attacking. But Henk would be a close second, especially with his know-how and access to transportation, not to mention his fondness for weapons. Plus, he’d be a hilarious companion to keep me company for the apocalypse icon wink Author Interview: Heather Anastasiu (Glitch and Override)

Haha, I agree about Henk! You need a little humor in the zombie apocalypse. icon wink Author Interview: Heather Anastasiu (Glitch and Override)

Override 1 199x300 Author Interview: Heather Anastasiu (Glitch and Override)About Override:

Zoe is free. She has escaped the enslavement of the Community, disconnected from the hardware that had controlled her every thought and emotion, and evaded capture by the Chancellor intent on killing her. She is finally free, but she is far from safe.

Zoe and Adrien hide themselves from detection at the Foundation, an academy that trains teen glitchers to fight in the Resistance movement. Together, Zoe and her new team of superhuman fighters must risk their lives to rescue other glitchers and humans from the Chancellor’s control. Challenges abound at every turn, and Adrien, who has become silent, distant, and tormented by his visions of the future, only adds to the growing certainty of defeat. But worst of all, as Zoe’s team fights against impossible odds, distrust and betrayal leads to the terrible discovery that their greatest threat could already be lurking behind the safe walls of the Foundation.

Full of high-adrenaline action and shocking twists, Heather Anastasiu’s Override is an exciting continuation of this popular young adult trilogy.
